The past always creeps in when you least expect it. I’ve always found it amazing how a coincidence will bring a new perspective on the past into view, just as you never wanted it to. Hindsight is always 20/20 they say, and its never more so the case than when something new comes to light.
Do you change your point of view, change your old memories? No, that’s never the case. Normally one just has to assimilate the information. The old memories are hard written into the brain. Nothing will change the warmth of the original memory, even if its become diluted by a sharp pain of new information.
The past is never what you remember though, they say that those that don’t remember are doomed to repeat, but what if you never knew the whole story? So many twists and turns in my own story that I can’t fathom that I knew all the stuff that happened. But that’s always better than getting slapped in the face by a lie that you believed the truth, or never even knew about.
The past is something I’ll always remember, it is what brought me to be who I am. A long novel, slowly being written as time slowly creeps on. You cannot simply rewrite the story of your life. You can add chapters, make new notations, and just keep turning the page to see how the story comes out. Time will inevitably keep marching forward to whatever end there is, all I can say is just enjoy the ride, and take new information, no matter how crazy, and be who you are, because nothing can change your soul.
Have you ever had a startling piece of info or an item from the past that ‘changed everything’ per say? I’d like to read some in the comments below.

News for Entertaiment
Audacity and ignorance are amazing things
They tend to make the birds not sing
They tear dreams down
And destroy happiness’ crown
All to the beat
Of several drummers in a meet
The cacophony of discord
Reigns as supreme lord
For all who can hear
Destroying all we hold dear
Yet the sound is so relevant
To those that think it is heaven sent
That they lend their voice
Leaving the sane no choice
But to cover their ears and pray
That they will lose their voice this day
I shall always be amazed
At how stupidity is praised
At how it’s banner is raised high
By those that have the public’s eye.

It’s hard not to be disillusioned and hurt while watching the major news networks. If you are actually an intelligent person, and can see through lies and deception, then why would you actually watch that stuff?
Admittedly it is about the ONLY news we are fed anymore, the news that garners ratings. Every time I turn on one of those channels I feel something like an enormous weight crushing me down, as if I’m watching the downfall of humanity play out for entertainment. The belittling and battling over topics the ‘journalists’ obviously have no real clue about is nothing but a regurgitation-fest ver what they talked about around the water cooler it seems.
But alas, that is the State of the Union. Its hard enough not to be crushed by it, let alone try to make changes. I worry sometimes that there is no changing it, that it’s a runaway train, destined for failure. I mean, truly...one of the greatest scientific advancements of this decade, and I honestly learned about it through jokes about it being ignored on comedy Facebook captions.... The tragic reality of living in such a day and age.

A Hobby's Collector
The word ‘hobby’ has such a range. Collecting things noone else collects, creating things, writing, blogging, even gaming.... The list just goes on and on. So many people take their hobby seriously, its quite odd at times.
I’m not different, I mean, here I am blogging away, while trying to finish a novel or three, surrounded by odd artwork and figurines that most consider quite nerdy things. At least my hobbies don’t take over and dominate my life. It is always crazy to walk into someone’s home and see nothing but a certain thing repeated over and over and over.
But that begs the question, when does a hobby cross the line into becoming something crazy? I know Lisa has her own ideas about my hobbies. Certain themes of my collectibles are not allowed in the Livingroom, even though I’ve secretly put some there in strategic locations and made it look pretty cool. In my childhood room I had comic books from the ceiling to the floor all the way around, with a few posters from movies and comics and such mixed in here and there. It was like my wallpaper. I admit that was a little crazy, especially as they made a GREAT hiding spot for scorpions, they loved to hide behind the X-Men comics....
My own guess is that when a viewer sees someone’s hobby as no long being healthy is when it crosses a line. Hoarding has become a popular sign for sure. But beyond that its just a matter of what other people think. I mean, unless it is obviously destructive. Many people view drugs as a recreational hobby, but I have yet to see a case where that’s not destructive in its own way. In fact, when I think about it, most things in this world are considered hobbies. An odd thought in a way, but...the way society is now, the term hobby has its own life....
Anyways, I’d love to hear some of your quick snippets about odd hobbies you have personal seen, or take part in. Me? I just got a friend request on a site from a guy who has thousands and thousands of pics of die-cast cars. I don’t know how he stores them all.... And my stepdaughter...she has a fascination with the Living Dead Dolls, even though she’s grown well out of her doll stage. She’s getting close to having more of them than pairs of shoes, and she treats them far better than her high heel blingy shoes she loves so much.... So please, share some stories yourself!

The Yin of Yang.
I cannot count the times that everything good and amazing in life is countered by something bad. I’ve lived my life waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak. I have a constant worry that it’s all going to unravel somehow and balance what else is going on. But all along the way, I think about how interesting its going to be as I watch it all happen.
After 2 months of it being in the shop, we got our car back out. Spent $1,800 to get it fixed. There is nothing as frustrating as getting into a car and hearing a click as you turn the key instead of the wonderful sound of an engine roaring to life. We dealt with the problem for a very long time. Finally we put it in, after a ton of things being fixed on it, we were excited to get the thing back. I crawled into the car, and turned the key. Ahhh, the wonderful sound of that click.... *sigh*
Why was I the only one laughing? We paid two car payments on a car we couldn’t drive, that wasn’t in our garage, that wasn’t even in logistical walking distance. And after so long to be in the car again, I half expected the completely competent mechanics at the dealership to have fixed the hugely complicated problem. Turn the key, car won’t start, but only when its hot. I found it a good joke.
Word of advice: If a mechanic is actually a good mechanic, he will own his own garage.
But this is how I always treat life. I laugh at the silliness of it. Being able to TELL the man who worked on your car for 2 straight months that, “It doesn’t matter how much you test drive it. It drove great before we brought it in. The real test is starting it after you drive it.” In the end, after a few more hours of work, they found the problem to be a lose ground wire on the undercarriage. We have the car back, it runs amazing, as it did before, but now it starts every time. Ah, the things we take for granted. And I fully believe that sitting at a repair shop for a few hours rants second in lousy times only to being stuck in airports for hours on end waiting.
All in all, that was yesterday, and today was a great day. And everything has balanced back out. Pessimistic Optimism. Everything is going to go wrong in the plan, but we’ll muddle through and make the best of it, while watching in awe at how coincidence and luck and circumstance unraveled a great idea. Life is a great great great ride. I’m so happy for this life, it’s a riot.
So are you a pessimist or an optimist, or like me, some odd conglomeration? I’m really curious to know so please comment below and tell us!

Misquotes to destroy a nation by
Henry Ford is quoted as having said, “Make the best quality of goods possible at the lowest cost possible.” For those that KNOW that quote they will recognize something missing. We’ll get to that.
That exact quote was hanging from a wall of a plant manager for a company I used to work for. He lived by that rule. Another great quote he had, sitting on his desk was from Harry Truman, "I don't give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them and they think it's Hell." Another great quote, but the first one always bothered me. It became a quote that would haunt me for the rest of my life....
I loved that job, and wanted to work there to make the company better. I hurt my back during my stint in middle management and got fired 21 days coming off medical leave for talking to a subordinate. Yeah, that’s a whole other story.... Anyways, after that job I had quite a few temp jobs. I jumped into the automotive industry for a fashion and found those guys to be the most disgruntled people I’ve ever encountered. And they had many reasons why.
The biggest reason why was; even though they made great salaries, they were being denied raises, and during that slump being offered time off without pay, though unemployment would have covered their lost wages; that the head of the company was completely rolling in cash. He was getting multiple bonuses of millions of dollars per year. Meanwhile the workers weren’t respected at all. They had worked at the plant for 20 or 30 years, and their suggestions for making the work place better and more efficient were always trumped by an office worker’s idea that had never set foot in an industrial factory. The callousness of the upper echelon’s dealings with the workers was astounding. There was zero respect for the hard work and dedication, and the intelligence, of the floor workers.
“Make the best quality of goods possible at the lowest cost possible, paying the highest wages possible.” The highest wages possible. Those guys made great salaries, more money an hour than I’ve ever made. Yet they were broke. It was their own fault. Making so much money, you don’t see the big picture, just that you’ll be able to make that mortgage payment. I’d watch them buy houses that were amazing, knowing that if I was making what they were making, I’d be living mortgage free after just a handful of years.... Those guys found themselves dependent on the raises, needing them to fill in the ever growing costs of living. It was truly a sad thing, meanwhile, the big boss man, whom none of them had ever, or would ever meet because he was so far above them, was spending his bonuses on yachts.
The animosity that exists between the upper management and the workers of most of the industries in the United States is unreal. I’ve often said very publicly, and very loudly, that I would be hard pressed, to ever buy another automobile made in the US. The US worker is disallusioned, they fully believe, and have hard evidence, that they are working to make upper management rich. They refuse to take pride in their own work, because to them, it is not their own work.
In the end, if the US worker would be smarter with his/her money, the problem would be far lessened. But it would also help if management wouldn’t keep such a huge margin of the profits. I end with another quote. I don’t know who said it, or where it came from. I don’t ever remember hearing it before I said it, but it’s prevalent enough to have been quoted by someone. “Take care of your employees, and your employees will take care of you.” That quote is lost, for the most part, in US industries. And that, I believe, is so much more sad, than dropping that last little part of Henry Ford’s quote, as dropping that little part is just a symptom of the ideals that are threatening to destroy this nation from the inside out.

(poem) They struggle, hidden....
Sometimes in life
We meet those people
Filled with strife
That can’t be helped at the steeple
But can you help them
As they hide their tears
Struggling to hide the stem
Of that which creates there fears?
They have a struggle
Deep inside their soul
That makes life dreadful
And makes emotions that steamroll
Can you stop someone
Who is making their final stand
Before they find themselves fallen
From the Earth’s sand?
Can you make them care
About what life has to offer?
Can you make them dare
To face this life’s horror?
No matter how bad it gets
Life is worth living
There will be many duets
That will keep you singing
If only you can make them see
How great it is
To live this life so free
Once you break your own bond’s kiss.
We meet those people
Filled with strife
That can’t be helped at the steeple
But can you help them
As they hide their tears
Struggling to hide the stem
Of that which creates there fears?
They have a struggle
Deep inside their soul
That makes life dreadful
And makes emotions that steamroll
Can you stop someone
Who is making their final stand
Before they find themselves fallen
From the Earth’s sand?
Can you make them care
About what life has to offer?
Can you make them dare
To face this life’s horror?
No matter how bad it gets
Life is worth living
There will be many duets
That will keep you singing
If only you can make them see
How great it is
To live this life so free
Once you break your own bond’s kiss.
Science Fiction Fan
I enjoy science fiction. I really don’t understand why some people can’t. Einstein said that the “true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.” To me that proclaims that what human’s can dream up, is close to what human’s have achieved. It keeps us looking to a future that might be, and inspiring those who have the knowledge to put it all together.
Even if some of it is escapism, such as John Carter, it still has some significance. The ability to sit back and enjoy someone else’s vision has such interesting artistic merit. Star Trek was a great place to have people think about what the most promising theories now could look like in the future.
Sci-fi has been around for what seems like Eons. John Carter is a story from 1912. War of the Worlds was written back in 1898.... The Time Machine, another great science fiction novel was even earlier.
But when they get it right, it can be scary. Even though it was just fiction, there was a book, which I can’t remember the name of..., written about a submarine blockade of the British Isles, and soon after in WWII, Hitler performed similar maneuvers. The original series of Star Trek, if you watch it, has all sorts of ideas that have been carried through today.
Luckily not everything has such sinister appeal, but most do have conflict. Star Wars is about a war that spans an entire galaxy, that involves heros and villains and all sorts of right and wrong. Watching Avatar, I find it hard not to get caught up in the flying scenes. Avatar in its own right, is many stages of art. The creation of the world to look so amazing was unbelievable.
Some Science Fiction goes back in time, to relive a past that never was. The Lord of the Rings was written with the express intent to give England a history that was lost in the dark ages. Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series is something amazing as far as it being broken down into a wheel that constantly rotates, and the book is just one of the Ages that have happened before or after our own Age.
Sure, there is NOTHING quite like sitting by a river, inside a T-Rex foot print. Looking directly at a direct link to the past. But there is also nothing like having a story in your head, and sharing it with someone who is moved deeply by the imagination of it.
One can argue that there is a glut of the same ideas out there. I mean, has the best Vampire novel been written yet? There are so many takes on the fictional creatures, and some people take them to a form of delusional reality, but the point of the best Vampire novel being written is entirely debatable. Although some would argue the worst ones have been written....
All in all, its best to look at Sci-Fi with a fresh mind. To enjoy it for its artistry. Dr. Who is an amazing show that pushes the boundaries of what is believable, but gives us characters, situations, and stories that are completely moving experiences in each an every way. All I know is, I will enjoy all the genre has to offer for as long as I can. Because its fun, its tragic, its wonderful, and it truly is beautiful to see what the human mind can imagine.
