Roommate Do's and Don'ts of the Week

New Girl: Roommate Do's and Don'ts of the WeekHey, this week Winston and Jess actually exchanged one whole line of dialogue, and technically Winston had mind sex with her... not exactly what we had in mind when we asked for more interaction between them, but it's something, right? But the rest of "Fluffer" fell flat, mostly because of Winston, and much as it pains us to admit it, Schmidt. And we can't help but wonder if the Romney camp paid for some product placement, what with all the talk about how he's a great dad with great hair. Here's what worked, and what didn't this week:

The Do's:
- Nick revealing that he has to watch The Walking Dead with Jess. We get it -- the bad parenting on that show is terrifying.
- How Jess deals with awkward sex: "I left him in there with crayons and papers like he's a kid and told him I had to check my fantasy football."
- The whale belt.
- Schmidt wisdom: "Friends help friends have meaningless sex."
- Jess on dinner with her roommates: "Like we're all dating in a large non-sexual friend group."
- Jess's red dress at dinner. She looked like a grown up, and it was a nice change of pace from her usual attire.
- Nick's uncomfortable reaction to a nice restaurant: "This place is fancy and I don't know which fork to kill myself with."
- Thermos of white wine. In fact, we might steal that for our next overpriced dinner.
- Nick and Jess having an honest screaming match about the idiosyncrasies that each of them have that drive them crazy. Someone needs to call her out on her constant singing more often.
- Sam's list of reason for building IKEA furniture for a woman: Marriage, blackmail, Make a Wish foundation request.
- Schmidt's mom is a lesbian.
- CeCe's comforting of Schmidt (even letting him lay on her boobs) and telling him to talk to his dad: "Forgive him for not being a presidential candidate with great hair."

The Don'ts:
- Every time Winston had creepy mind sex with someone and he stared at them like a serial killer.
- Us having to pretend to care an iota about Winston and Shelby's relationship, when she's even further removed from the rest of the group action than he is.
- Schmidt's growing obsession with Kanye West.
- Nick's reaction to Jess's red dress. All of the cartoony sayings and the Loft Troll stuff.
- Schmidt as Tug Romney. It was funny for a second, but it went on about 10 minutes too long. He's too old to be lying to college coeds to get laid.
- Jess having a rubber bunny ear case on her cell phone like she's a 13-year-old girl.
- Jess's turn on is Nick making beer nuts tell corny jokes.
- This: "I just wish I had a lot more solo Tug time."
- Why Schmidt called CeCe for advice: "Being brown you have the wisdom of a thousand white women."
- And Jess saying this about casual sex: "I'm old fashioned below the belt. Civil War-era piece of equipment and that's all she wrote."
